2) If you have not turned in your "Billetes" worksheet, finish it now and turn it in! We need your pesos so we can work with them in class! Put your worksheet in the green basket beside my desk. 3) Once you have finished the Gimkit assignment and you have turned in your billetes worksheet, continue with the skills tree on Duolingo.

Parte B

After we play BINGO

In your notebooks, select three (3) statements from the BINGO card that are true about you and write them in your notebook. For example, if you have Spanish class in the morning, you'll write, "tengo la clase de español por la mañana."

Next, select three sentences that are false for you. Put the word "no" directly before the verb. You're going to make those sentences negative. In Spanish it's easy to make sentences negative because we just use "no" in front of the verb. For example, I do not play an instrument in band, so I would take the sentence, "Toco un instrumento en la banda" and change that to "No* toco un instrumento en la banda."*

Remember that you want to have some go-to sentences that you can use to describe your classes and teachers here! This are always good descriptions you can rely on during our writing and speaking assessments if you can't think of other things to say.

Add these questions to your notes. These questions are not exactly the same, but the meaning is similar. This will help us expand our writing and speaking options.

You can answer like this,

On the last writing practice, I saw these a lot: "me llamo es" and "me llama". "Llamo" is a verb form, not an adjective. Males and females both say "me llamo" to say their names. And we don't have to add "es" after it.

What is Papel Picado?

Papel picado is a decoration made from colorful tissue paper. We'll decorate our classroom and hallway with your examples when they're finished. People in Mexico and Central America use papel picado for celebrations like Día de muertos, birthdays, and other special events. Common designs include:

• esqueletos y calaveras (skeletons and skulls for Día de muertos)
• flores (flowers)
• pájaros y otros animales (birds and other animals)
• corazones y estrellas (hearts and stars)

We'll watch a couple of videos to get us started:

Activity

1) Plan and draw your design

Before cutting your papel picado, sketch your design on the back of this paper. Think about what symbols, shapes, and patterns you want to include. You can use common elements or create your own meaningful symbols. Be sure to draw in a way that pieces of paper are connected. If you want to do a face, for example, leave some paper connected to the parts of the face, or you will just have a big hole in the paper.

2) Cut out your papel picado

After drawing your design, you will use scissors to carefully cut out the shapes from tissue paper. Cut out your designs and glue your papel picado to our streamers.

3) Paragraph

Also on the back of this sheet, write a paragraph explaining why you chose your design. What do the symbols and shapes mean to you? Why do you think they are important? You can write your paragraph in English.

B) Warm-Up: Pre-Assignment Adjective Review

Adjective Practice

(Colors in Spanish)

Remember these rules about adjectives:

1. Adjectives follow the noun they're describing (in English, adjectives come before the noun).
   
2. Adjectives agree with the noun in gender (masculine or feminine).
   
3. Adjectives agree with the noun in number (singular or plural).
   

Some adjectives, like blue/azul and green/verde, do not end in "-o" or "-a." These adjectives will only change with the number of the noun (singular/plural) but not with the gender.
