Unidad: Mi familia y yo - Integrated Performance Assessment Outline

Scenario:

You have the opportunity to share information about your family with your classmates. You can also dive deeper with two different presentational options.

Interpretive:

  • Read or listen to text(s)/audio examples that describe different speakers' families and their life experiences.
  • Answer comprehension questions thoroughly to demonstrate understanding of the text.
  • Questions will target Novice Mid - High expectations.

Interpersonal Speaking:

  • Have a conversation with a partner about your families.
  • Ask your partner questions that at least include the following topics:
    1. Los miembros de tu familia y las mascotas: Describe who is in your family, including any pets. (Examples: ¿Cuántas personas hay en tu familia? ¿Tienes mascotas?)
    2. Actividades que haces con tu familia: Discuss activities you enjoy with your family, using phrases like "me gusta" and "nos gusta," and include simple verbs. (Example: Me gusta jugar al fútbol con mi hermano. ¿Y a ti, qué te gusta hacer con tu familia? ¿Haces tu cama por la mañana?)
    3. Tus responsabilidades Talk about your responsibilities at home using expressions like "tener que + infinitive verb" (Example: Tengo que hacer mi cama todos los días. ¿Qué responsabilidades tienes en casa?)
  • Ask follow-up questions to gather more details and maintain the flow of the conversation.

Presentational:

  • Choose one of the following options (We may make this a video instead of a presentation in front of the class.)
    1. Famous Family Presentation: Project a picture of a famous real or fictional family and share details about the family members. (Examples: Miguel's family from "Coco", The Simpsons, etc.)
    2. Family Artifact Presentation: Bring or show a picture of an artifact that holds significance to your family (e.g., a family document, a quilt, etc.). Say where the item comes from, whom it belongs to and its importance to your family.

This option may be a little more difficult than the first one. You will certainly have to look up new vocabulary. But I think it's worth doing if you want to try.

If you want to do this option 2, talk to Mr. Wilkins first! Don't bring in anything fragile or dangerous.
