Using "Ir + a + infinitive" in Spanish

Use “ir + a + infinitive” to say what you are going to do.

Structure

subject + ir (conjugated) + a + infinitive verb


The verb "ir" --> to go

singular plural
yo voy nosotros / nosotras vamos
vas
él / ella / usted va ellos / ellas / ustedes van

Examples

Spanish English
Yo voy a limpiar mi cuarto. I am going to clean my room.
vas a lavar los platos. You are going to wash the dishes.
Él/Ella va a sacar la basura. He/She is going to take out the trash.
Nosotros vamos a preparar la cena. We are going to prepare dinner.
Ustedes van a barrer el piso. You all are going to sweep the floor.
