We've briefly looked at the present tense conjugations of "-er" and "-ir" verbs, but it's good to refresh.
Conjugation in Spanish means changing the verb to agree with the subject of the sentence. Change the verb's ending based on who is doing the action (the subject).
Singular | Plural | |
---|---|---|
1ª persona | yo como | nosotros/nosotras comemos |
2ª persona | tú comes | |
3ª persona | él/ella/Ud. come | ellos/ellas/ustedes comen |
Singular | Plural | |
---|---|---|
1ª persona | yo vivo | nosotros/nosotras vivimos |
2ª persona | tú vives | |
3ª persona | él/ella/Ud. vive | ellos/ellas/ustedes viven |
Notice how the "-er" and "-ir" conjugations are the same except for nosotros (and vosotros, which is not on the charts.)
Conjugate the verb in parentheses to match the subject of the sentence. After you conjugate the verb, write the English meaning of each sentence. You can do this on the same sheet of paper.
Examples:
Ej: Los estudiantes (aprender) muchas cosas en la clase de biología. = aprenden / The students learn a lot of things in biology class.
Ej: Ella (leer) un libro en la clase de historia. = lee / She reads a book in history class.
