Alright folks, didn't get many of last week's Interpersonal/Pres speaking assignments back, so do those first. (Gracias Anya y Dalton for Lingt. Anya's the only one so far to do the Flipgrid assignment) Here's the post from last week:

There is some software I want to test out with our class for Interpretive and Presentational Speaking, but it's pretty expensive. Before I commit to purchasing it, I want us to practice a little.

Go to lingt.com/russell.wilkins and click on "Span III H" on the left hand corner. You'll see the assignment "Preséntate :) Semana 01" - Click on it and answer the prompts, then submit.

Practice FLASHCARDS, MATCH and TEST on "Taller de escritura 01, adverbios y conectores." Link here: https://wilkins.dropmark.com/834764/25294880. We will use these a lot in upcoming writing tasks. Upload a screenshot of your 100% Test to Canvas. The assignment is called "S01: IPD01: Conectores"

Carefully read the directions on the Canvas assignment, S02: IPD01: PW: Cambio de raíz. Upload a photo of your sentences (written on paper) in Canvas.

Finish the block with PRACTICE on Duolingo if you have time. Look in the top right corner to see how many crowns you have. If you do not have at least 10, send me an email saying, "I don't have at least ten crowns!" Some of you are still not connected with your old accounts, and we want you to be on the old account so you do not lose progress. We also need at least 10 crowns to begin with stories.

Complete ex. 11, p 14 in your notebook. Have it ready for a notebook check next week. WRITE the complete sentences from the exercise.

Read "Repaso Ser or estar" on pg 15. Complete ex. 13. Have it ready for a notebook check.

All students – A group and B group – need to sign in or create an account on Duolingo and join our class when the semester begins on Jan 19, 2021.

If you already have a Duo account that you created with your @stu.cherokee.org email address, go to join.duolingo.com and enter the code: QVGGGK .

If you have a Duolingo account but you did not create it with your @stu.cherokee1.org email address or you have never made a Duolingo account, watch this video: https://wilkins.dropmark.com/834761/25167545, create your account using the steps in the video, then enter QVGGGK on the course code prompt.

UPDATE: If you were in my class in 2019, you will need to use your email address that was all NUMBERS - not the first-last-digits@stu.cherokee1.org address.

If you do not remember your Duolingo password, email me: russell.wilkins@cherokee1.org, and I will try to reset your password. In your email, tell me which course you were in when you last used Duolingo (for example, Fall 2019 - 2nd Block). I'll need this information to find your user profile.

Your assignment for this week is simple so we can get back in the swing of things: 200 XP for the week - you can do this with Practice, Timed Practice, New Sets, or redoing any set beginning with "Activities" in the skills tree. Any set that you review before Activities will not count towards your goal.

If you do not have an adequate internet connection (wired, WiFi or cell hotspot) to do Duolingo at home, send me an email, russell.wilkins@cherokee1.org, explaining so on your first day back in class.

Mr. Coggins will issue you a copy of the Span III textbook. You can leave it in your locker. I will let you know if you ever need to bring it to class (which you don't need to for now.) I want us to have it in case something changes and we don't have face-to-face meetings for a while.

Ms. Black (or another substitute) will give you a copy of the Presentational Writing Benchmark on Tuesday for A Group / Thursday for B Group. Read and follow the directions on the handout, and be sure to do the best you can - as always. Do not use any outside materials. Laptops closed - of course.

When you're finished with the Writing Benchmark, return it to Ms. Black and your next assignments will be on Canvas.

The first assignment in Canvas is a "quiz" based on this text. Be sure you can answer "True" to each question - review / re-read if you need to. Continue with the other activities in Canvas when you complete the quiz.
