Dear Parents / Guardians, and Students,

¡Bienvenidos a Clifdale! I’m excited to work with y'all this semester as we begin to build (or continue building) proficiency in another language.

Spanish class for 7th and 8th grades is a semester-long course, and we're a diverse group of learners. There are students who have already taken a Spanish class with me, absolute beginners, and students who speak Spanish outside of school. 6th grade will only be with me for nine weeks, but we can do a lot in nine weeks! Regardless of where you are on your language-learning journey, everyone will improve and grow in Spanish proficiency this semester.

While we will follow the units outlined in the syllabus (linked below), I will adjust and add to our unit outline when special opportunities arise for meaningful interaction in Spanish. This may include using outside materials (I have a couple of interesting things I'm hoping to do), or modifying the pace of units depending on what’s best for the class.

We'll use wilkins.dropmark.com often in class. Here you'll find our weekly outlines, online links, vocabulary, videos we use in class, etc. I’ll post assignments to Schoology. Because wilkins.dropmark.com site is public, parents / guardians and students can easily check it from their phone or non-school device to see what we’re doing each day, and even follow along with vocabulary or videos if they want. I never post any student or personal information there.

Quick Syllabus Summary
Students will need: A notebook, pen or pencil, their charged laptops each day, and a folder/binder to keep handouts and resources (this can also be a folder they use for other classes.)
